New Balance Athletic Shoe , Inc. (NBAS) , best known as simply New Balance , is an American
Footwear manufacturer based in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston , Massachusetts , United　
States of America . It was founded in 1906 as the New Balance Arch Support Company .
Eschewing expensive advertising campaigns , it has , nevertheless , grown to be one of the largest
markets of sports footwear in the world .

New Balance has continued t maintain a manufacturing presence in the United States as well as
in the United Kingdom for the European market , where they produce some of their popular
models such as the 990 model , in contrast to its competitor in the same market space who do
not manufacture in the US or UK . The result of this is that New Balance shoes tend to be more
expensive than those of many other manufactures . To offset this pricing difference , New
Balance claims to difference their products with technical features , such as a blend of gel
inserts , heel counters , and a greater selection of sizes , particularly for very narrow and/or
very wide widths .

South by Southwest ( SXSW ) is a set of film , interactive , and music festivals and confereces that take place every spring ( usually in March ) in Austin , Texas , United States .

SXSW began in 1987 , and has continued to grow in size every year . In 2011 , the conference lasted for 10 days , with SXSW Interactive lasting for five , Music for six , and film running concurrently for nine days .

South by Southwest is run by a company , called SXSW Inc . , that plans and executes conferences , trade shows , festivals and other events . In addition to the three main South by Southwest festivals , the company runs two other conferences , both also in Austin : SXSWedu , a conference on educational innovation , since 2011 , and SXSW Eco , an environmental conference , also since 2011 .

SXSW Music is the lagest music festival of its kind in the world , with more than 2,500 "official" performers / bands playing in more than 100 venues SXSW Music offers artist-provided music and video samples of featured artists at each festival via their official Youtube channel .

SXSW Film is a film festival , focusing on new directing talent .

SXSW Interactive is focused on emerging technology , a focus which has earned the festival a reputation as a breeding ground for new ideas and creative technology . According to a festival organizer Louis Black , SXSW Interactive "has probably been the biggest of its kind in the world" since 2007 .

The music event has grown from 700 registrants in 1987 to nearly 12,000 registrants . SXSW Film and SXSW Interactive events have grown every year , most recently bringing around 15,000-20,000 registrants to Austin every March .

Collectively , SXSW is the highest revenue-producing event for the Austin economy , with an estimated economic impact of $167million in 2011 .

The band is an American Post-punk band originally active from 1982-1997 , led by singer , songwriter and Multi-instrumentalist Michael Gira .

The band was one of the few groups to emerge from the early 1980s NY No Wave scene and stay intact into the next decade . Formed by Gira in 1982 , Swans employed a shifting lineup of musicians until their dissolution in 1997 . Besides Gira , the only other constant members were keyboardist / vocalist / songwriter Jarboe from 1984-1997 , and semi-constant guitarist Norman Westberg . The band was noted for droning vocals and repetitive song structures . In 2010 , Gira reactivated Swans without Jarboe .

The reformed band has released two new studio albums : My Father Guide Me Up a Rope to The Sky in 2010 , followed by The Seer ( ↓↓No . 4 ↓↓ ) in 2012 .
